This weekend sees the largest annual sporting event in the UK take place as over 6,000 student athletes assend upon Sheffield to take part in the BUCS Individual Championships 2016.

#BUCSNationals is the centre piece of the university sporting calendar in the UK and a medal at the Championships is seen as a big stepping stone on the way to Commonwealth, World and Olympic medals, and with Rio 2016 just months away, the standard of entry is the highest it has ever been.

 

This weekend, GCU athletes across 3 sports; athletics, badminton and table tennis, will be looking to achieve success and show the rest of the UK the best of themselves and of the university.


Satarting this afternoon we have athletes running in 60m, 200m and competing in various field events. Tomorrow see's our badminton and table tennis athletes take to the court and table respectively with high hopes for Scottish Commonwealth Games athlete Lynda Flaws in the Women's Draw.
