With BUCS/SSS fixtures and leagues drawn to a close for the 2016-17 season, one could be forgiven in thinking that the world of student sport would be a quiet one this time of year. However you couldn't be more wrong.

With the end of the regular season comes the opportunity for the best of the best in Scottish Universities to put on that coveted kit and show the rest of the home nations what they can do! Yes that's right it is Scottish University Representation time, and this year sees a healthy representation of GCU's finest!

Nine students have been selected for Scottish University Squads across 4 different disciplines.

To start earlier in the season 3 Shinty players were selected for the Scottish University Squad who travelled to Belfast. Congratulations to Cammy Keith, Ryan Harrisson and Megan Ralph on their achievement.

Two of GCU's Netballers were selected for the Scottish University long list this season. Congratulations to both Jenny Lewis and Victoria Murphy.

This week saw two athletes from Men's Basketball travel with the Scottish University team to Ireland to compete, huge congratulations to Ross Gibson and Néstor Lasunción.

Finally three of GCU’s Athletics members this week were chosen for the Scottish University and College Athletics Team who are travelling to Dublin to compete in May. Alec Thomas was chosen to represent the team in both the 100m and 200m; Callum Matthews was chosen to represent the team in the 1500m and Catherine Palmer was selected for the High Jump.

A huge congratulations to all athletes on their outstanding achievements!
