School Officer, Business Management

Date: October 2014

I am really excited about my new role as Student Officer. I was an INTO University student last year, and had the privilege of being a class Rep, which I learnt a lot from and was great for personal development.

Why School Officer? I want to build upon and strengthen some of the skills and experiences I had as a Rep. I know these roles, if you apply yourself and make the most of them, are fantastic opportunities to develop real and practical organisational skills alongside the theory we learn in class.

Just as importantly, these roles have great opportunity to make a difference. I have experienced both positive and negative experiences in the university. I feel this is a chance to celebrate and learn from the positive ones and to help change the negative ones for others.

Learning from Positives - The student experience teams make great improvements – How is this done? What are the meetings that take place and how are the decisions made?

Improving Negatives – The International student visa and admission experience is extremely painful. What is the focus to improve this? How can this be improved so that future students do not suffer?

Working With Reps – Having been a Rep, I am really looking forward to working with a Rep network across Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS) and feeding the information up into Board meetings.
